How to Square Off With Your Anxiety and Enjoy Your TBR Pile
Did you know May is Mental Health Awareness Month? We wanted to share a few tips that have REALLY helped us get through our TBR when our anxiety is trying to take over. It can be perplexing when reading is one of your absolute favorite things in the world and anxiety is creeping in, not allowing you to feel that page turning joy.. If you have some tips to share with us, head over to our Insta and shoot us a message! We’d love to hear from you!
1. Buddy Read
This is something that has changed the game for us! Having someone else read along with you is SO comforting! It’s like a virtual grammatical hug. You can do it in a group, or just with a friend that you trust. The best part is you can be anywhere to read with buddies!
2. Don’t be afraid to DNF
If you start reading a book and aren’t jiving with it, it’s OKAY to put it down! There are no rules when it comes to reading. There is not enough time to read all the books, and that is alright.
3. Schedule your reading time
This has a big impact because it relieves the pressure of feeling like you have to read a whole book in a day (if that’s not your goal)! Start with a small, attainable time limit. Sit in a sunny spot or outside if you can to soak up that vitamin D, and carve out 15 minutes to read, relax, and get those rays!

“Bloom where you are planted” is one of my life’s mottos. I’m currently blooming in Northern Utah. Experienced mover and expert packer, I have lived in several states but hold California and the East Coast the closest in my giant ol’ heart. There you will also find quintessential old soul vibes and a deep love of books. As a child, I was usually found passed out with a book in close proximity (not much has changed). Today you will also find a cat in my general vicinity, coffee in one hand, and cross stitch in the other.
