September Author Events and Giveaway for a Signed Copy of THE FIRE QUEEN!

I hope you all had a wonderful September! I can’t believe it’s already over! For me, September was a rush of reading new releases, attending book events, and Salt Lake Comic Con. Here’s the book events we got to attend this month!

Leigh Bardugo’s Wonder Woman: Warbringer Event

You guys, I got to meet Leigh!!! Six of Crows is my very favorite novel, so I was beyond excited to get to meet this incredible author. And she is every bit as wonderful as I’d hoped and then some. Leigh is such a smart woman and so kind. It was such a pleasure to get to listen to her speak about her own novels, and she also took the time to answer audience questions about writing and gave such great advice. This event was an incredible experience, and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to attend.

The King’s English Turned 40!

My favorite indie bookshop in the world, The King’s English, turned 40 this month! This bookshop has literally changed my life. They allow me and my book bestie to host our YA and Wine book club meetings there each month, and it’s because of their book events that I’ve gotten the opportunity to meet local authors, booksellers, and readers and really become a part of our amazing book community here. This blog would not exist without TKE! So it meant the world to me to get to go celebrate their birthday with them and with some of my book club buddies. Coincidentally, we arrived right in time for the champagne toast!

Alexandra Bracken, Tamara Ireland Stone, Ally Condie, and Elizabeth Eulberg Event

What an incredible panel of authors! Alexandra, Tamara, and Elizabeth were in town on tour for their latest middle grade novels, and our lovely local author Ally Condie moderated the event. Each of these ladies is so sweet, smart, and talented, and it was an absolute pleasure getting to attend their panel and getting to see them. I also got to interview Elizabeth Eulberg before the event, which was so much fun! Elizabeth is hilarious, and I had such a great time chatting with her! You can check out our interview here!

McKelle George’s Launch Party for Speak Easy, Speak Love

This event was so special for a couple of reasons. First, I LOVED Speak Easy, Speak Love. It is truly one of my favorite books I read this year. I adored the 1920s setting, and the dialogue and banter is just so much fun! Second, McKelle is actually in our YA and Wine book club, so celebrating the launch of her debut novel was so exciting!

Emily R. King’s Launch Party for The Fire Queen

I got to moderate this event, and I had so much fun! HUGE thanks to Emily for having me! We have a lot of amazing local authors here, and Emily is one of my very favorites. Her books are packed with phenomenal female characters, and I just find them to be so inspirational. I truly cannot recommend these books highly enough, which is why I’m giving away a signed copy! Ladyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, what an epic month! Three of your all time favorites? Leigh, Emily, and McKelle! No wonder September went in a breeze! Fantastic month, and hope October will bring you some good ones, Krysti! 🙂

    • KrystiYAandWine says:

Oh my gosh! I know! It was such a great month! We do have some pretty epic events this month too, but not quite as many as in September. Thanks, lady! ❤️❤️❤️

Well, I’m reading Ever the Brave which is amazing! And ignoring my TBR a bit to read The Winner’s Crime, which is also amazing! What about you?

      • bookprincessreviews says:

Ooooooh that’s fantastic! I always meant to continue with The Winner’s trio, but forgot after the first one, so I’m eager to see your final thoughts. And I really do need to get on Ever the Hunted series if it’s amazing. I got to the point where I don’t want to read any of my physical books so I’m binging at the library and trying to find allllllllllllllll the spooky reads. I just ordered Hunting Prince Dracula so I’m super excited about that!

      • KrystiYAandWine says:

I’m almost done with The Winner’s Crime, and I LOVE it. 🙂 That’s so fun that your doing spooky reads right now! I love reading for the season. What spooky reads have you discovered?

      • bookprincessreviews says:

Oooooooh I’m super excited. I apparently really need to get back to that series then. Do you think you’ll just finish out the series then? And YES. I just want to fully be ready for Halloween. I found a few ghost/creepy stories, but a lot of them were start and stops because the vibes were just off. I’m going to try one tonight – The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall, which seems spooky and fun.

      • KrystiYAandWine says:

Yessss! I’m going to try to finish it next month. I finished The Winner’s Crime and absolutely loved it. Oh, I’ve heard of The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall. I’ve been considering it. Let me know what you think!

      • bookprincessreviews says:

Ooooooh okay, sounds like a perfect plan. 😀 So glad to see you loved it and I can’t wait to see the final thoughts. And yes, I shall! I got distracted by Hunting Prince Dracula that I accidentally skipped over it, but I’m going to have to try it. XDX

      • KrystiYAandWine says:

Hahahaha! That’s awesome. HPD is worth skipping almost any book IMO. I LOOOOOOVED that one. I know I love a lot of books, but I especially loved that one. All the heart eyes for Thomas! 😍😍😍

      • bookprincessreviews says:

Ahahahaha yessssssssssssss. I was like, sorry all other books, but I gots to get my HPD jam. 😀 THOMAS WAS AMAZING. You told me the swoons were amazinggggggggg. SO MANY FEELS. So excited for the next one. I am intrigued to see where they go in America.

      • KrystiYAandWine says:

Yes! Yes! Yes! I’m so glad you love that book as much as I did. She did SUCH a great job of focusing on both the romance and the plot and the eerie vibes. Absolutely loved it!

I'm currently reading her short story collection, The Language of Thorns. As if her writing wasn't enough to always make me have to get her books, they're always so dang pretty, too! The cover and illustrations are just lovely. 🙂

    • KrystiYAandWine says:

Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy The Language of Thorns! I thought it was just gorgeous, both the writing and the book itself like you said. 🙂

    • KrystiYAandWine says:

Thanks so much, Cristina! It really has been a great fall so far. It looks like you guys have had some awesome events out there too. 🙂
