The Song Rising Worth the Wait

Wine Pairing: I strongly recommend a large glass of Madeira to sip on while reading Shannon’s highly anticipated third novel in The Bone Season series. After all, a wine pairing for this book needs to be as strong and complex as the character of Paige Mahoney herself.
This book is a bit shorter than the others in the series, and that’s okay. In fact, it might be a really good thing. Not one scene or detail in this novel feels superfluous. Every single word propels the plot forward, sucks readers in, and makes this a novel that cannot be put down.

The stakes for our leading lady could not be higher. Paige has to somehow balance gaining the respect of The Mime Order as their new Underqueen, destroying the latest threat to the survival of Clairvoyants everywhere, and somehow preserving her integrity.

The narrative is packed with action, mystery, intrigue, romance, and emotional turmoil. It also builds further upon the fascinating world Shannon has so brilliantly crafted in the first two novels.

This is certainly one book that was more than worth the little extra wait for fans that may have been disappointed when the release date was pushed back. It’s clear that Shannon and Bloomsbury made the right call with the delay, because this book is quite simply on point.

*Wine recommendations are, of course, only for those of a legal drinking age*
